5 Tools for broken links on your site

Although it seems easy broken links manually check a website, often in the case of sites that are too large, go page by page to verify proper operation can be a task almost impossible. Luckily, there are interesting tools that will help us identify broken links on our website.

Xenu Link Sleuth
Xenu Link Sleuth is a free program that is only available for Windows, one of the first tools that tracks everything a website and provide us with a list of broken links and pages that point to the broken link.

It has other uses beyond the search for broken links. Xenu can also help you check duplicate content.

Screaming Frog SEO Spider
Screaming Frog Spider SEO can be an alternative to Xenu Link Sleuth for Mac. A very simple and free tool (depending on the size of the website), but with many more features like revision of duplicate pages, long titles, pages without H1 or H2 , etc.

Check My Links
Check My Links is an extension for Google Chrome browser. This tool is a little different from the previous one, since only the page you are currently viewing is checked.

W3C Link Checker
W3C Link Checker checks for broken links and offers recommendations based on the errors detected.
